Unofficial Bio

Here, I'm not gonna pretend like someone else is writing this.

As a kid, I didn't like school. Often I would skip school and just hang around. Then I was introduced to the shakuhachi flute by this old very kind man who lived in neighborhood when I was 2nd grade. It was a lot of fun not going to school but his place and play the flute. I don't remember his name or where he lived anymore. Bow to him..

When I was 9ish my father tried to teach me guitar but I wasn't really interested. I got serious when i was 13.

In high school, I practiced and studied music theories like crazy.
My studies included, "Lydian Chromatic Concept" by George Russell, "Melody and Harmony of Japanese Music" by Kazuma Bouta, "Technique of my Musical Language" by Olivier Messiaen, "Harmony of Debussy", etc.

Heard Jaco Pastorius.. His music blew me away. Got into jazz.

I transcribed quite a few solos of Jaco Pastorius, Bill Evans, Wes Montgomery, Michael Brecker, Charlie Parker, Brad Mehldau, and other known and unknown ones..

In 2006, I went to the college where people like Charles Mingus and Eric Dolphy went. I won awards. I kept pretty good GPA. I think I was a pretty good student.
But school wasn't really my place. Real music can never be taught at school..

Got back in the real world.
Recorded my 1st album in dec 2010.

I've been very very very very very very fortunate to play with/study with/learn from, Victor Wooten, Jacques Lesure, James Leary, John Pisano, Willie Jones Ⅲ, Joesph Wooten, Walter Smith Ⅲ, Osa, Ryan Cavanaugh, Tony Grey, and all other great friends/musicians. Bow to everyone of them..

Everyday, I simply try to be and hope to be better than yesterday as a musician, as a guitar player, and as a person.
