New Video: Shingo x Kazutoyo Koyabu 小籔千豊 "Pudding"

posted Mar 2, 2015, 9:33 PM by Shingo Yuji   [ updated Mar 5, 2015, 1:09 AM ]

Hi there.

Just uploaded a new video to YouTube.

Kazutoyo Koyabu (小籔千豊) is my favorite Japanese comedian who is also active as rapper/singer and hosted big music festival called "Koyabu Sonic". He's pretty hilarious (well, only if you speak Japanese though...). The song is about his mother. I couldn't say he's a great singer, but its lyrics is pretty touching..
Check him out!
Hope you guys enjoy!!

New video: Shingo x George Benson "Danny Boy"

posted Feb 19, 2015, 9:44 PM by Shingo Yuji   [ updated Mar 5, 2015, 1:12 AM ]

I just uploaded a new video

Last month, I had an honor of meeting my guitar hero George Benson himself.
I told him that I love his rendition of "Danny Boy" and transcribed every note of it, and whenever I harmonize a melody I use it as a reference. And he was like "Oh man! I'm so honored my friend!!" Lol.

He is truly a genuine person and definitely have that, what I call, you-don't-have-to-be-famous-to-be-my-friend attitude..

So here's my tribute to Mr. George Benson with all my respect! Thank you! I learn from u a lot!
It's not perfect. There are some mistakes but c'mon man,, this is Goerge Benson's rendition,,, how could "I" play it perfectly ;))

Hope you enjoy!!

I have uploaded a video for the 1st time in a long time.
Solo guitar rendition of Liberty City by Jaco Pastorius.

I transcribed the most of the chord voicings from the piano version on his Modern Electric Bass DVD and horn sections from original version.

Hope you enjoy.

Paul Reed Smith!

posted Feb 9, 2013, 1:00 PM by Shingo Yuji   [ updated Mar 31, 2013, 5:43 PM ]

Another great news!

I got an email yesterday. It says "We would love to add you as an Artist on our roster"...
Means, I'm now an endorsed artist of Paul Reed Smith Guitars!!!!

For me, this is kind of dream-come-true occasion because last 10 years the only guitar I played on gigs, recordings, and any performances is PRS guitar. I'm a kind of guitarist who sticks to one guitar I love to play and feel comfortable with.
I feel very fortunate to be able to work with the companies I love!

Well, first thing I should do as an endorser is to work on the correct pronunciation of "PRS". #FOB

With Mr. Paul Reed Smith himself!!

The Organizer by EarthQuaker Devices!

posted Feb 7, 2013, 3:04 PM by Shingo Yuji   [ updated Feb 7, 2013, 3:36 PM ]

This pedal, the Organizer (polyphonic organ emulator) by EarthQuaker Devices, just arrived.

At the NAMM show, I visited EarthQuaker Devices' booth to try out the pedal I'd been thinking to get. People there were so nice. They complimented me on my playing and gave me discount, but that was over my budget. So I just gave them my info and my CD and told them that I'd contact when I'm ready to buy.

Few days later, they provided me with the pedal for free, saying "We liked your CD better than others we received from the NAMM". What an honor.. Such great people.

They make very high-quality handmade out-of-the-box-thinking pedals.
I've tried all of the other competitions (as far as I know). the Organizer beats all of them for its much clearer and more natural sounding overtones and its small size.

I'm not an official endorser or anything but feel like am. I'll try to put up either audio or video of me playing this pedal soon.

Much love and respect for the people at the EarthQuaker Devices.

Please check them out.
